I have witnessed firsthand how guidance and encouragement can spark 
ambition and ignite passions. By fostering work-based learning experiences, 
we provide pathways for young people to explore their career interests and build 
the skills they need to thrive. It is my hope that we continue to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes, creating workplaces that not only accommodate 
but also embrace the unique talents of individuals with disabilities. Together, 
we can cultivate an environment where everyone has the opportunity to succeed 
and contribute meaningfully.

I joined PYD as a fellow in the spring of 2023, and it was such a formative experience. It gave me the space to imagine what accessible, identity-affirming education could look like and introduced me to friends and mentors. Returning as the alumni liaison in 2024, mentoring the fellows and supporting their change-making projects was the highlight of my year.

The PYD Job Lab made a place where students like me can practice job training with awesome instructors who helped me learn new skills. I wish that every student with disabilities could go to the PYD Job Lab because it is like going to the Boston Children’s Museum and playing restaurant, CVS, and Doctor’s Office with friends! A lot of neurotypical people don’t understand how hard it is for people with learning disabilities like me to get basic job skills. I can’t pick up the job skills I need on my own like they can. My experience at the PYD Job Lab will help me to get a job and live a successful life as an adult in the future.
